Craig Loftin:
This book is told from the perspective of 18 military “chasers”—gay men who pursue military men. Alternately between narrative, interviews, rumination, and political statement, Zeeland argues that the modern gay rights has in fact hampered the ability of gay men to initiate sexual contact with “straight” men such as military personnel. Zeeland also considers why marines and sailors are preferred over airmen and army soldiers, the range of relationships between chasers and military men, the organization of male gay military prostitution, and the sex panic over gay men having sex in public places. The book also addresses questions of masculinity now popular in the academic world.
