Benjamin Kass
This story spins the tale of a young man who conquers all. It is a journey of triumph that sets out at a fast pace in the hero's hometown village. Backwards, in every sense of the word, Aichi soon finds his sister dead, and his family in ruins.
Aichi, the protagonist, is forced into adulthood as everything and everyone he knows and loves are stripped from him. Left to fend for himself, in the face of adversity, through the support of his best friend's sacrifice he embarks on a journey he never asked for, down a road he can never look back.
As “A Life Worth Living” continues to unfold the suspense builds, and the underlying message continues to chip away at tradition. At each bend we are confronted with new questions, and left to wonder how we might handle that similar situation. Furthermore, it gives us the chance to look at our own life.
Everyone will love this book with its short chapters, immediate hooks, and fast-paced, brilliant descriptions. As I read it my mouth dropped on nearly every other page because of the brilliantly simple prose, and vividly depicted scenes. Even the most basic references to nature, from sun to earth come alive. When Aichi is on the beach, it as though you can smell it; and when he is in his village or on the run, the people and atmosphere feels tangible. Sometimes…. you really are there along with the colorful cast of characters.
