“Black Like Us” is divided into three sections - 1. “The Harlem Renaissance” (1900-1950; Alice Dunbar-Nelson, Langston Hughes); 2. “The Protest Era” (1950-1980; James Baldwin, Audre Lorde); and 3. “Coming Out Black, Like Us” (1980-2000; Jewelle Gomez, Melvin Dixon) - each one rich with short stories and novel segments. There is also a comprehensive bibliography of books by and about the contributors and other Black, LesBiGay authors.
