Greg Knotts: Greg Knotts is a PhD candidate in Education, at the University of Southern California.

“Gay and Lesbian Studies” navigates the development and changes to the world of gay and lesbian studies from its early beginnings to the establishment of the first Gay and Lesbian Studies Department in an American college at he City College of San Francisco. Written in 1992, “Gay and Lesbian Studies” now serves as a historical narrative in a field that has dramatically developed in the decade since it was written. The chronicle discusses, among other topics, the interdisciplinary nature of gay and lesbian studies, what it is like to teach in the field, and the attempt to reclaim a gay and lesbian history. Beginning with such problems as simply attempting to define terms like homosexuality and gay, this book encapsulates a period of history in a field that has evolved and exponentially grown since its writing.
