This history of gay life from World War II to the present focuses primarily on New York City. Kaiser looks and politics, pop media and literature to reconstruct gay life in these years discussing the end of the war, to the age of McCarthy, Stonewall, AIDS, the present, and everything in between. Book is arranged chronologically by decade, relying heavily on secondary historical sources and journalism from the era discussed.
